AIMES OF THE PROJECT

The major aim of this project was to help to restore the “spirit of Christmas ” among the needy especially during the increasing economic stress caused by amongst other factors, the COVID-19 pandemic.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the project is to uplift the spirit of the target group by providing food items and sanitation items (laundry soap) was strictly adhered to.

EXPECTED OBJECTIVES

The expected objective was successfully achieved since all funds requested for was apportioned to the budget. Contingency expenses were low due to the involvement of willing, faithful participants as volunteers.

CHALLENGES

The only near-disappointment experienced was the ever-increasing numbers of fully needy who kept on following and pleading for “something also”. We expressed to them in sincere language our disappointment to the fact that we had the limitation to reach out to all at this one moment and that in case of “any future opportunity” they would be our priority -and they understood us.

LESSON LEARNED FROM THE CONCLUDED PROJECT

Providing food for the needy is rather interesting and difficult task. It is interesting to see smiles in the face of the recipients, expressing sincere gratitude. It is difficult because in the case of slum dwellers, there is no clear parameters of choosing one and leaving the others since almost everybody around is needy. Identifying the very-needy would require longer time for interviews instead of just a couple of days as in the case of this concluded project.

FOLOW UP ON THE CONCLUDED PROJECT

Orphan Aid Uganda will strive to link some of the beneficiaries to the Self Reliance trainings in the LDS Church and elsewhere and, also solicit for any available relief aid to reach out a wider target.
